The Clinical Nurse is responsible for performing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) and delivering safe therapeutic nursing care in consultation/collaboration with interdisciplinary members of the patient care team. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages of patients served on the assigned unit(s). Possesses the ability to assess and interpret appropriate data relative to age and to provide nursing care as needed as described in the unit’s policies and procedures: demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span; and possess an understanding of the range of treatments needed by patients.
The Bass Cancer Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Diseases is a comprehensive patient care area that encompasses both inpatient and outpatient services.
A 15 bed inpatient Hematology and Oncology unit. Patients are admitted with a new diagnosis of any type of cancer and readmitted for ongoing therapy and treatment of side effects.
A 12 bed inpatient Stem Cell Transplant unit. Patients with metabolic and genetic disorders, in addition to patients with cancer, are admitted for allogeneic bone marrow, autologous bone marrow and stem cell transplants.
1 North Outpatient Center is an 8 bed unit where Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant patients receive outpatient treatments such as transfusions, chemotherapy, IVIG and IV hydration. The Bass Center APU provides housing for our procedures utilizing general anesthesia as well as minimal to moderate sedation.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program. Prefer BSN.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent Pediatric HEM/ONC/SCT experience.
Licensure/Certification: Current California RN License, Current AHA Healthcare Provider BCLS and PALS certification. APHON Chemo Provider preferred
