The Operations Manager - Radiology is responsible for the overall operational management of multiple Radiology departments. Primary duties include designing, monitoring, and managing technical areas to provide and promote high quality, efficient, cost effective services in compliance with hospital, accrediting, and regulatory requirements.  Directs Assistant Operations Manager and/or modality Supervisor in managing assigned staff and utilization of resources within assigned areas to meet financial and productivity standards, quality standards and strategic goals of the department and hospital. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring/firing, scheduling, performance evaluations, quality reviews, staff education, coaching, development, support and promotion of customer relations, and monitoring of activities to ensure performance standards are achieved. In collaboration with the Assistant Director and Physician Sections Chiefs, develops, implements and maintains policies, procedures and complex imaging equipment. Provides input to the development of business plans, leads projects, member of departmental committees, workgroups and PI teams.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital’s policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

* Performs supervisory functions for the assigned departments and/or program by interviewing and recommending the hiring of new staff members; providing or arranging for training for subordinates; evaluating subordinates' performance; and recommending personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary action to ensure adequate and competent staffing.

* Responsible for overall operational management of multiple Radiology modalities.

* Collaborates with department leaders (Radiology Information System (RIS) Manager, PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) Manager, and Patient Care Manager) to provide direction for all supporting departmental activities.

* Collaborates with the Assistant Director-Imaging to insure that annual operating budgets are developed, implemented, and monitored in order to meet the financial goals of the organization, to meet or exceed budget targets and that budget variances are resolved or justified. Assists in the coordination and integrations of capital budget requests and purchases.

* Executes the department billing practice and liaises with Admitting Department to ensure Registration procedures are followed. Leads work efforts to train staff on billing practices for their area. Ensures that all billing codes are properly used by staff and performs daily audit to assure timely submission of exam charges. Performs additional QA (Quality Assurance) measures to audit billing practices.

* Leads departmental and hospital wide process improvement projects using creativity, specific PI models and measurement tools. Treats patients, staff, physicians and the general public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.

* Manages through the Assistant Operations Manager the effective delivery of quality imaging and diagnostic services for assigned technical areas; meeting customer needs, department standards, policies and procedures, community standards and regulatory agency requirements for assigned areas within Radiology.

* In conjunction with Assistant Director, develops and executes hospital and treatment center goals.

 Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

* Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field

* Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible directly related work experience.

* License/Certification: Current American Heart Association (AHA) Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.

*License/Certification: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (MRI, NM, CT, US, or RDMS).

-AND-

*License/Certificate: Certified by the State of California Department of Health Services in Diagnostic Radiology (CRT or NMT).
