The Analytics & Clinical Effectiveness Specialist serves as a member of the Analytics & Clinical Effectiveness Team within the Center for Pediatric & Maternal Value. Collaborates with and influences a comprehensive and innovative clinical effectiveness program focused on clinical process redesign. Creates and manages analyses of administrative, clinical, financial and demographic data for use in data driven improvements by the Analytics and Clinical Effectiveness Department and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. Integrates project management and improvement methods to interpret analytic findings, communicates information to interdisciplinary teams and supports clinical performance improvement work. Performs complex analysis, interprets results, develop summaries and generates effective and optimal visual display to inform and operationally support LPCH improvement initiatives and priorities. Builds complex data sets and utilization of those datasets to inform clinical and operational decision-making based on unnecessary variation, high utilization and patient outcomes. Identifies opportunities for improvement via evidence-based practices, regulatory and accrediting agency requirements, and current performance in key clinical & financial outcomes. The A&CE Specialist applies new knowledge and strategies for measurement and improvement based on published literature, national guidelines and best practices. The A&CE Specialist is an active and involved member of the department, the Center and the hospital. Engages colleagues and partners in an innovative and dynamic improvement effort. Serves as a point of contact and resource for the medical center related to matters of quality improvement, analytics & clinical effectiveness.

- Performs data analysis; creates and interprets data displays, including clinical, cost, and patient satisfaction data.
- Ensures the integrity of data being reported and utilized is accurate and valid.
- Ensures quality and caliber of efforts to translate information needs into meaningful data displays.
- Researches and designs effective and innovative analytics strategies to measure and improve departmental and organizational goals.
- Works collaboratively with quality & performance improvement teams to develop measures for monitoring and reporting clinical outcomes and process improvement.
- Provides expertise to the department and to interdisciplinary clinical effectiveness initiative teams in LPCH data models and systems. Acts as a resource in the interpretation and use of data generated by the department and utilized throughout the organization.
- Designs and develops dashboards and other innovative data visualization using business intelligence tools.
- Represents and serves as an authority on the Analytics & Clinical Effectiveness Team and the department/Center at meetings, initiatives and on committees.
- Provides consultative and analytic expertise to LPCH partners.
- Collaborates within the hospital and clinics, the School of Medicine, medical and patient care staffs, and with external agencies and stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes and improve clinical performance.

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/ discipline from an accredited college or university. Master's preferred.
- Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
- Licensure/Certification: None required.

- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
- Ability to utilize Microsoft programs, Business Objects, Tableau, and other applications and databases
- Knowledge of advanced quantitative skills (advanced Excel, Access, statistical tools)
- Knowledge and ability to use decision support systems such as Access or other relational databases
- Ability to use statistics to evaluate and interpret data, summarize results and make recommendations
- Knowledge of project management methodologies
- Knowledge of and experience with improvement science pedagogies and methods
- Ability to understand and use information technology to drive process changes
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and reasoning
- Ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
