The Motion Lab Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Motion Lab and performs biomechanical and clinical evaluations of human movements during sport tasks using motion capture equipment and functions as a physical therapy provider. The supervisor is responsible for work scheduling, staffing, hiring, orientation, competency training and completion of performance evaluations. Liaises with community outreach teams to promote knowledge of lab services. Provides expertise and support for research projects in the Motion Lab. Supervises all Motion Lab staff and ensures proper training.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).
Directs and supervises Motion lab staff and assures proper training and documentation of all clinically relevant data and information on EPIC, in compliance with HIPAA regulations and collaboration with ISS
Works with staff to design appropriate work schedules for subordinate employees and plans daily work assignments in order to maintain adequate staffing to meet customer service needs.
Directs and manages regular case review sessions with physicians, physical therapists, biomechanists, and athletic trainers. Acts as subject expert in physical therapy and provides technical interpretation, feedback, and educational experiences for care team to improve understanding of biomechanical data to be utilized towards improved clinical outcomes
Performs all necessary patient care documentation, including assessment, plan of care, progress notes, discharge summaries, and charges for evaluation and treatment. Documentation reflects patient status, progress or change, participation by patient and family in goal setting and delivery of care.
Runs motion capture software to collect and process movement data. Creates and interprets 3D Kinematics and Kinetics.
Identifies needs for equipment repair or upgrade to maintain quality of care. Makes recommendations for selection and purchase of specific equipment and supplies.
Conducts independent research, including planning, design and execution of studies.
Identifies and seeks out scholarly publication and presentation opportunities.
Develops relationships with outside agencies, payers, physicians, teams, institutions, and the greater community including sports programs to promote and expand the knowledge of the Motion Lab’s services.
Provides training and educational programs on performance, safety, and technology available and to create funding opportunities for research in new areas.
Liaises with Rehab team regarding ongoing collaboration and educational opportunities with rehab staff.
Supports and coordinates with the Biomechanist in development of research questions, proposals and research projects and presents findings to the scientific community at national and international meetings.
Develops and implements quality assurance programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of clinically relevant exam methods and measures.
Acts as clinical liaison between MSPL and physician and community outreach teams.
Utilizes all software relating to data collection, processing, and analysis such as Vicon Nexus, Polygon, Noraxon Myopressure, Novel Emed, Delsys EMG, and Retul.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Master’s degree in Physical Therapy
Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
License/Certification: Physical Therapy in the state of California by the Physical Therapy Board of California required.
License/Certification: Orthopeadic Clinical Specialist (OCS),-OR- Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS), -OR- Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) preferred

Knowledge of Vicon System
Knowledge of Noraxon/Zebris/Cosmos pressure platform instrumented treadmill.

Ability to budget, make financial projections and write reports
Strong anatomy skills.
Knowledge of biomechanics.
Ability to understand the graphical results of three dimensional inverse dynamics during sport maneuvers.

Ability to develop and document clearly and accurately treatment goals that are realistic, measurable, appropriate, functionally based and that include patient/family input
Ability to develop, implement and adapt treatment programs

Knowledge of legal issues affecting the clinical practice
Knowledge of principles, methods, equipment and theory of the practice of clinical specialty
Knowledge of regulatory practice requirements
