The Provider Informatics Trainer is responsible for the delivery of individualized clinical systems training to physicians, advanced practice providers and ongoing support for these individuals over time.
Responsible for supporting physicians and Advance Practice Providers (APPs) in their use of information technology. Provides needs assessments, and assists in the development of curriculum and training materials. Identifies opportunities to engage physicians and positively impact physician efficiency and satisfaction. Influences and coordinates with leadership, super users, Epic application and systems analysts, and the Clinical Informatics team to develop curriculum that explains the functions and processes of the new system and relates them to the context of existing workflows. Provides ongoing training, optimization, and troubleshooting support for providers.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).
- Delivers 1:1 individualized training or classroom training to Physicians/Advance Practice Providers for EHR and other IS systems as appropriate. Supports provider use of computer based training where appropriate.
- Identifies opportunities to engage physicians and positively impact physician efficiency and satisfaction.
- Acts as liaison between CMIO and users to identify, investigate and resolve issues identified by physicians/providers. Works with technical and clinical representatives to address physician workflow issues.
- Communicates with physicians, physician offices, site administration & staff and IT, both 1:1 and in scheduled meetings, to gather input for site and IT projects.
- Assess and analyzes end-user learning needs and develops and maintains curriculum to meet those needs. Conducts needs assessments and identifies training needs based on provider feedback, industry knowledge and EHR product development.
- Develops training materials and additional training documentation to improve processes and to reduce or eliminate errors.
- Assists in development of tools to measure user competency as well as effectiveness of the training program.
- Develops a comprehensive knowledge of workflow design for each provider area and understands all processes and system functionality supporting the workflows.
- Partners with the Provider Informatics Education Supervisor to manage the outpatient Epic Super User program, and collaborates with the Epic Training Manager and ambulatory leadership to determine priorities, engage super users and develop training materials.
- Assess training program needs through regular onsite visits to provide support and proactive service, including analysis of opportunities to take advantage of existing tools and workflows.
- Captures and documents physician issues to define, troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate issues in collaboration with Epic training, clinical informatics and appropriate IS application teams.
- Assists in the development of training materials related to Epic or other IS tools.
- Supports physician/advance practice provider use of computer based training where appropriate. Identifies barriers to change and provides resolution and manages ambiguity/complexity.
- Supports the implementation of new projects and workflows as identified on the site plans by working with leadership to facilitate the completion of physician/provider related tasks (e.g. planning, design, workflow analysis, training, equipment and support.)
- Supports at-the-elbow support for users during Informatics Education and EHR/Technology initiatives at Go-Live.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
License/Certification: Epic credentialing within 16 weeks of hire
