Under general supervision, the Unified Communications Specialist is responsible operational oversight of all LPCHS IT Telecommunication solutions.  IT Telecommunication solutions include all technologies and services required for the enablement of secure and non-secure voice, video, and text messaging communications.

The Unified Communications Specialist will be responsible for maintaining strong communication, collaboration and partnership across these organizations with regard to IT Telecommunication solutions to ensure our end user experiences are streamlined.

The IT Unified Communications Specialist will work with service leads and technology owners to guide continuous improvements (using Lean and other process improvement techniques) to Unified Communications processes. Additionally, in collaboration with other subject matter experts, the IT Unified Communications Supervisor will document current state architectures.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).

  • Gather functional/business requirements and definitions for IT Unified Communications service improvements
  • Interface with PMO, site walkthroughs, design, ordering equipment, receiving and installing equipment, and provide support model for equipment (end-to-end management). Provide project status on a regular basis as project team requires. Submit Project Charters for PMO approval. Perform day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
  • Executive Level Support (C Level, VP, Directors) for unified communication  matters
  • Create technical designs and specifications
  • Monitor and report on IT Unified Telecommunications services metrics
  • Tier 3 end user support for all Unified Communications (collaborative applications, mobile devices, video, and voice)
  • Perform front line troubleshooting Integrate and design all A/V for existing and future conference rooms, offices, and medical clinics
  • Work with remote users (internal and external) to successfully connect with existing video conferencing equipment
  • Implement Unified Communications Applications into Enterprise solutions
  • Perform Unified Communications software and hardware upgrades
  • Arrange Virtual Tumor Board and Telemedicine sessions
  • Document processes and procedures
  • End User Support/Training/Relations
  • Communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through email
  • Installation for video conferencing and A/V equipment (Cisco  Telepresence)
  • Manage high profile meetings and events (Virtual Tumor Board, Telemedicine, CEO’s Monthly Management Meeting, Town Hall, Space Planning)
  • Clearly translate and communicate information and concepts surrounding IT Unified Communications services between and across different groups and levels within and outside of the organization

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Associate’s degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university  

Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

  • Solid experience on Video Infrastructure: Cisco TMS, VCS-e/VCS-c, Telepresence Server, Cisco Unified Communications Manager/Call Manager
  • Solid experience on installation and deployment of Cisco Telepresence endpoints
  • Video conferencing technology and Architecture (eg. Cisco Telepresence, PolyCom)
  • A/V integrated systems for office and/or medical environments
  • Real-time collaborative tools and messaging (Cisco WebEx and Jabber applications)
  • Mobile Device Management (AirWatch MDM)
  • Telecom/VoIP Services (Cisco Unified Communications Manager)
  • Electronic faxing solutions (RightFax)
  • Wireless telephony (Ascom, Vocera, DAS)
  • Digital signage (AppSpace, BrightSign)
  • Interops gateways (H323, SIP)
  • Solid understanding of network and video protocols (TCP/IP, H323, SIP)
  • Ability to console or remote session for backend configuration (CLI)
  • Knowledgeable of infrastructure security risks
  • Provide project management and installation for video conferencing and A/V equipment (Cisco  Telepresence
